Building a Strong School Community
Our proposed family-engagement model is designed to move beyond occasional meetings. Families will be welcomed as active partners in their children’s education and in the continued improvement of the school.
Stronger Together. Supporting Every Student.
At Vision Academy Charter School of Innovation, we believe students are most successful when families, teachers, and school leaders work together toward shared goals. Parents and guardians know their children best, and their voices, experiences, and ideas will be essential to building a strong school community.
Our proposed family-engagement model is designed to move beyond occasional meetings. Families will be welcomed as active partners in their children’s education and in the continued improvement of the school.
Families will have opportunities to participate through:
Regular communication about student learning and progress.
Parent-teacher conferences and shared academic goal setting.
Curriculum nights and student exhibitions.
Family workshops and educational programs.
School events, celebrations, and volunteer opportunities.
Family surveys and opportunities to provide feedback.
Parent leadership and school-community involvement.
Support for learning at home.
Partnerships with teachers when students need intervention or enrichment.
Curriculum Nights will allow students to present their projects, celebrate their accomplishments, and demonstrate what they have learned. These events will give families greater insight into the curriculum while recognizing student achievement, creativity, communication, and growth.
Vision Academy Charter School of Innovation plans to use the family-engagement framework of the National Network of Partnership Schools at Johns Hopkins University. This research-based model helps schools build effective partnerships among families, schools, and communities. It emphasizes that student success is a shared responsibility and is strongest when parents, students, educators, and community members work toward common goals. Through this approach, we will work to:
Give families a meaningful voice in school improvement.
Build trust and open communication.
Help parents understand what their children are learning.
Provide practical ways for families to support learning at home.
Connect families with school and community resources.
Celebrate student progress and achievement.
Create a welcoming school community where every family belongs.
Vision Academy Charter School of Innovation is a proposed tuition-free public charter school projected to open in September 2027. The school plans to begin with grades K–4 and add one grade each year until it serves students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
