At Vision Academy Charter School of Innovation, STEM education will be more than a separate class. Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics will be connected through hands-on, project-based learning that encourages students to explore, design, create, test, and improve their ideas.
Our proposed fully integrated K–8 STEM program will engage students of all interests and ability levels. Students will apply academic knowledge to meaningful projects and real-world challenges while developing curiosity, creativity, confidence, and independence.
Students will explore areas such as:
Robotics and control technology.
Engineering, mechanics, and structures.
Computer science and software development.
Scientific data collection and analysis.
Electronics and circuitry.
Alternative and renewable energy.
Computer graphics and digital communication.
Media arts and applied technology.
STEM learning will help students develop essential skills, including:
Critical thinking and problem-solving.
Creativity and innovation.
Communication and collaboration.
Digital and information literacy.
Adaptability and perseverance.
Research, design, and experimentation.
Leadership and responsible decision-making.
Students will work independently and collaboratively to investigate questions, design solutions, build models, analyze results, and present their work. Teachers will guide students through the learning process while encouraging them to take ownership of their projects.
Projects, presentations, reflections, and digital portfolios will give students multiple ways to demonstrate what they have learned beyond traditional tests.
By introducing integrated STEM learning in the early grades and building upon it through eighth grade, Vision Academy Charter School of Innovation will prepare students for success in high school, college, future careers, and a rapidly changing world.
