At Vision Academy Charter School of Innovation, we believe students learn best when new knowledge builds logically upon what they have already learned. Our proposed academic program will use the research-based Core Knowledge curriculum to provide students with a rich, well-rounded, and carefully sequenced education from kindergarten through eighth grade.
The Core Knowledge Sequence identifies the important knowledge, and skills students should master at each grade level. This clear progression helps prevent gaps and unnecessary repetition while preparing students for increasingly challenging work.

Strong critical-thinking skills begin with knowledge. When students understand important ideas, events, vocabulary, and concepts, they are better prepared to:

Teachers will combine Core Knowledge with clear explanations, teacher modeling, guided practice, frequent checks for understanding, and opportunities for independent application.
Student progress will be regularly assessed so teachers can provide targeted intervention, additional time for mastery, or enrichment based on individual needs.
Students will demonstrate their knowledge through more than traditional assessments. Projects, presentations, writing, portfolios, collaborative activities, and real-world problem-solving will allow students to apply what they have learned with creativity and confidence.
By building knowledge systematically from the earliest grades, Vision Academy Charter School of Innovation will prepare students to succeed in high school, college, careers, and lifelong learning.
